Foundation Beginnings
From a Backpack Program to a Community Movement
Backpack Program: Nourishing Futures
What began in 2017-2018 as a response to children going home without food has grown into a vital program impacting hundreds of young lives. Thanks to community sponsors and supporters like Jason, a local Backpack Program now provides 320 food-filled backpacks every weekend to children in need.
Other highlights include:
Jason’s daughter, Carly, requested birthday donations for the program.
The annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser, where Jason’s sponsorship ensures continued growth and sustainability.
Partnerships with Feed My People Food Bank, guaranteeing nutritional support for every child served.
Grateful for what already is:
A $10,000 donation from the Rice Lake Celebrity Charity Classic board in Jason’s name honors his commitment to helping local youth.
The foundation was started on January 2nd (2025), and by January 8, we are at an estimated $50,000 already donated, not including the match of $100,000 from the family of Jason DeRousseau.

Support local youth and families through community and worldwide-driven initiatives.
Initially raise a minimum of $200,000 with the help of the $100,000 matching donation from the family
Encourage both financial contributions and volunteer time, emphasizing that everyone can make a difference.
